I started Fat Girl because I felt there was a need for girls to speak up about their often obscene and obsessive relationships with food and bodies. It feels as though diet culture and body judgement has become so normal that we don't even question our distorted and bizarre relationships with our physical selves. I found speaking up - to friends and family, as well as writing about my relationship with food and my body on paper enabled me to let go of the pain and frustration I was experiencing.

You needn't have a diagnosed eating disorder to share your story! Fat Girl is a space for skinny girls, large girls, tall girl and small girls (ALL GIRLS!). We believe the word "fat" is often metaphoric of our emotional experiences or an expression of our feelings. That is to say, I am hoping by sharing our bodily anxieties we may be able to free ourselves from the shackles of societies beauty ideals, and be able to nourish our emotional selves.

So please, SPEAK UP!!!! Share your story! WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU <3 <3 <3
